With effect from 23rd January 2017, all Indian nationals intending to visit Hong Kong must first apply for and successfully complete pre-arrival registration online, without which they will not be able to visit or transit Hong Kong visa-free.
Exceptions– The following categories of Indian nationals can visit Hong Kong without pre-arrival registration.
- Those who have successfully enrolled for the e-Channel service for frequent visitors.
- Holders of valid Indian diplomatic or official passports.
- Holders of United Nations Laissez Passer coming to Hong Kong or transiting Hong Kong to or from a third place for official United Nations business.
Indian nationals who cannot complete pre-arrival registration must apply to the Hong Kong Immigration Department directly for an entry visa before visiting Hong Kong.
In order to allow sufficient time for Indian travellers to obtain a pre-arrival registration, apply for an entry visa, or make adjustments to their travel arrangements as necessary, the online platform for pre-arrival registration will be opened on 19th December 2016.
At the time of immigration in Hong Kong, Indian nationals will need to show their passports along with a copy of their successful pre-arrival registration form duly signed failing which, they will be denied entry into Hong Kong.
